California Association of Food Banks
The California Association of Food Banks (CAFB) was founded to promote collaboration in response to emerging social, economic and legislative challenges impacting hungry people throughout California. To accomplish their mission, CAFB focuses on providing support to a membership of 41 food banks, increasing the visibility of hunger and its solutions, sharing food resources and influencing public policy. CAFB develops and advocates positions at the federal, state, and local level on behalf of member agencies and the people they serve.
To design a responsive, bright, professional yet welcoming website for a large constituent group including food banks throughout California, current and potential donors, food distribution agencies, anti-hunger organizations, journalists and government agencies. CAFB needed visitors to find resources and model programs and ways to participate in policy advocacy campaigns. The new site is a place where visitors learn about the organization and financial status, read about the latest news, search for food resources and become a partner. The site needed to attract donors and make people looking for food stamps feel confident that they have the right tools.
The California Association of Food Banks received a responsive Drupal website. The home page features a mega menu, animated slide show and news api. Modules include custom food bank locator, manageable staff page and document resources. The design and CSS were developed with mobile users in mind so the website is easy to navigate on tablets and mobile phones. CAFB also received a logo “refresh” for the new website and future marketing purposes.
